The Post-Graduate program in Corporate Finance aims to provide highly motivated participants with high quality up-to-date training in the fields of corporate finance and financial investments. The program is transversally focused on understanding the creation of corporate value. Its approach combines a small set of theoretical foundations courses with a larger set of more practical oriented ones, aimed at addressing real life problems and situations.
The goal is not to merely transfer knowledge, but rather to let participants acquire the applicable skills to perform the relevant analysis and decisions required by an increasingly demanding professional life.
Who Should Enroll
- High-potential individuals who seek to gain technical knowledge and real-life experience about corporate finance decisions and financial market instruments;
- Participants should hold a Bachelor's degree in Economics, Business, Hard Sciences, Engineering or equivalent and demonstrate to possess elementary knowledge of Calculus and Statistics.
No previous knowledge of Accounting, Finance and Economics is required.
Miguel Ferreira
Course Coordinator
Miguel Ferreira holds the Banco BPI Chair in Finance at Nova School of Business and Economics. He is also a research associate of the European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI) and a research fellow of the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR). He has a PhD in Finance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a Master in Economics from Nova School of Business and Economics, and a Bachelors in Business from ISCTE. His research interests include international investments, institutional investors, and corporate governance. His research has been published in academic journals including the Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, and Review of Financial Studies. He has been a recipient of a European Research Council (ERC). He currently teaches corporate finance and risk management at the undergraduate and graduate level and has also an extensive experience of teaching in executive education programs.
Paulo Soares de Pinho

Paulo Soares de Pinho is Academic Director of the Lisbon MBA. He has a Bachelors in Economics and an MBA from Nova School of Business and Economics, and a PhD in Banking and Finance from Cass Business School. Paulo is Associate Professor at Nova and Visiting Professor at Cass Business School in London and at University of Luxembourg. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Sonae Capital, of Change Partners Soc. Capital de Risco (venture capital) and of several venture-capital sponsored firms, Chairman of the Audit Board at Novabase, SA, President of the General Council of Fundo de Sindicação de Capital de Risco and Representative Director of Venture Valuation (Switzerland). Formerly, he was Executive Director and Board Member of REN S.A., Director of UNL’s MBA Program, consultant to several financial and energy institutions, and member of the Advisory Board of the European Capital Markets Institute.
